Watching a Basset Hound sleep can be so hilarious sometimes. The other day I walked in my bedroom and found Maggie sound asleep on my bed in this position.
I love it when my girls sleep like this. It just cracks me up!
Maggie was super comfy and not about to move.
She did wake up enough to open her eyes to let me know that she knew I was there. I was probably bothering her peaceful slumber.
Her awake time didn’t last long though. She began falling asleep even while I was taking pictures of her.
Watch her eyes. Going...
Going...
Gone!
It must be weird going to sleep with your eyes open. Good thing dogs have that third eyelid to make sure they get their necessary shut eye (no pun intended). Maggie looks quite creepy sleeping with her eyes open.
I could watch this crazy dog sleep all day. Being that Maggie is a Basset Hound, that is totally doable because all she does is sleep all day.
The other day I really cracked up because I found Maggie asleep on her bed like this.
A Basset Hound’s ears can serve many functions from toy to drool catcher. But I never would have thought their ears were lip holders too!
Maggie was asleep so hard, she didn’t even notice me taking pictures of her and her crazy ear/lip action. This was the funniest thing to see!
Eventually, Mag woke up and moved.
Guess sleeping with her lip open made her mouth dry (which is rare for drooly Maggie!). A good swish of the tongue remedied the dry problem.
Can’t a dog just sleep in peace around here?
Nope. Not when I’m around!
