Teeth and Babies

Yesterday, we went over to Jennifer’s house to celebrate a very belated birthday for the Wayneman. Jennifer grilled up some nice steaks for dinner since that is the Wayneman’s favorite.
Haley also had a birthday while we were in Europe. Since we missed it, we kind of had a joint b-day party for both Haley and Wayne.
Haley is now five and, as with most five year olds, she has some loose teeth. One of her bottom teeth in particular is extremely loose and ready to fall out any minute. Of course, she is petrified to let anyone pull it. She keeps wiggling it though!
We all keep offering her words of encouragement to help coax her into letting us get that tooth out. She isn’t going for it though.
Last night, I took a picture of her baby-toothed smile because it will never look like this again after those teeth start coming out. Please disregard the food all over her face. That’s just the way it goes sometimes. Looking at this picture, I sure can see how irritated her little gums are under that loose tooth.
This picture cracks me up. You can really see that bottom tooth is so loose it has moved over to the side and is higher than the rest of her teeth on the bottom.
Loosing a tooth isn’t the only thing changing for Haley. Tomorrow morning, Jennifer goes in for her C-Section to have her baby. So, for Haley, life is going to change. Way back when I started this site, I asked Haley how she would feel if Jennifer were to have a baby (see Babies Are So Annoying). Well, that day is just about here for Haley. Jennifer is ready to blow!!
Last night, I asked Haley how she was feeling about this baby situation. She said she thought her life was going to get worse. So, my mom, the Wayneman and I had a talk with her about this baby stuff. Haley doesn’t like the Wayneman interrupting her movie scene. She has no problem letting him know that too. Here’s what she had to say:
I think Haley is looking forward to this baby a little bit. She had a couple things she wanted to say to her baby sister she is about to meet.
Today, I talked to Haley and tried to encourage her some more to let Jennifer pull that tooth. I told Haley if she let her mom pull her tooth out today (only), I would buy her the Webkin she has been wanting. This interested Haley very much. She accepted my deal, but told me the Webkin she wants doesn’t come out till June. However, Haley says she thinks the Webkinz people are tricking us and she wants me to go out shopping today to see if I could find it. Jennifer and I told her that we weren’t being tricked and that I would buy the Webkin for her as soon as it comes out - so long as that tooth comes out today.
A couple hours later, I got a phone call from Haley proudly announcing that her tooth is out!! After her tooth came out, she told Jennifer “Now I don’t have to make any more deals with Auntie Brandy!” But, I will keep my end of the bargain. That Webkin is all her’s come June!
So, today, Haley has something missing from her smile.
What a way to spend your last day as an only child!
I don’t think she minds a bit! Lose a tooth, gain a baby sister! Sounds like a good trade off to me!
