At 17 feet tall, he is a commanding presence. Another thing about David...  he’s not only beautiful, but he’s also totally hot!

Really hot!

Look into David’s eyes. They almost look alive with anticipation of taking on Goliath. The detail in David is just incredible. This is renaissance man at his finest! Well, this is pretty much any man at his finest!

The Accedamia also houses Michelangelo’s Prisoners. These statues flank the walls leading up to David. When you are walking up, it is sometimes hard to appreciate these guys because your eyes are so fixated on David. I think the Prisoners are beautiful as well.

Most of the art in the museum is housed on one floor. However, it is a four story hike upstairs to get to that floor. It is totally worth it though to see the Botticelli Room with my two all-time favorite paintings.

The Birth of Venus...

I also love the twisty Rape of the Sabine Women statue at the Accademia.

After our Accedemia visit, we came back to our hotel for a much needed rest before our reservation to visit the Uffizi Gallery. The home of the greatest renaissance art of all time.

This “U” shaped gallery was the offices of the Medici family that was so prominent in Florence back in the day.

If you eat early like us American’s you can get a great table with this view of the Ponte Vecchio.

... and the Primavera (Springtime).

It was pretty impossible to get a decent picture of these paintings.  First off it was crowded in there. Also, they don’t allow you to take pictures, because they want you to buy their junk souvenirs with these pictures on them. So, this was the best I could do.

Both paintings are huge! I could stare at them for hours they are so beautiful. All of the Botticelli works in the Uffizi are gorgeous. These two really take the cake though.

Another one of my favorite paintings in here was Filipo Lippi’s Madonna and Child with Two Angels. I found this picture online. Is there anything sweeter than the Angel’s face on the bottom right? This is a perfect example of how renaissance art used human beauty to make it beautiful!

Another wonderful thing about the Uffizi is the view of the Arno River and the Ponte Vecchio. Probably the best river and bridge view in Florence.

The food is great too!

Another excellent spot for viewing the Ponte Vecchio is at this wonderful restaurant - Golden View Open Bar on the other side of the Ponte Vecchio.

Being there with the Wayneman is always nice!

I just love the way they present it!  It is like a work of art!

After dinner, we went exploring around the Ponte Vecchio area. I saw the tiniest strawberries ever! They were so cute! Here they are next to regular sized strawberries.

I also saw this $12,000 dollar diamond and sapphire beauty in one of the display cases on the Ponte Vecchio.

We also saw such beautiful and yummy gelato!

A girl can dream right??

Finally it was late, and we headed back to our hotel for a good night’s rest.  Today, we will be exploring more of Florence!
