Christmas Day 2009
Christmas Day 2009
Tuesday, December 29, 2009
The other day, I wrote about our Christmas Eve. To continue along those lines, I thought I’d write about how we spent our Christmas day.
Since we opened all our presents the night before, the Wayneman, his dad and I had nothing to open on Christmas morning. That was fine though because I made a nice breakfast and we just had a relaxing afternoon at our house before we headed over to Jennifer’s house for Christmas dinner.
The day was just beautiful outside. Clear, but cold. A far cry from Christmas day last year when we had 18 inches of snow on the ground and we were all trapped at our respective homes spending Christmas apart.
Later that evening, we headed over to Jennifer’s house. It was quite cold outside and the roads out in the country area by Jennifer’s house were a bit icy. The Wayneman and his dad went in his car and I followed along a few minutes behind in my car. The Wayneman went a different route than I did and got to Jennifer’s a few minutes before me. In between the few minutes when the Wayneman got to Jennifer’s and my parents arrived, there was a really bad car accident on the road they took right in front of my parents. A girl hit a patch of ice and slid uncontrolled into an oncoming car and flipped over. My parents stopped to help. One person in the other car was hurt and no one had a cell phone, so it was lucky my parents had their phone and could call 911. It was a very scary thought that this just missed both my parents and the Wayneman.
My parents got stuck at the accident scene for a bit, but finally were able to pass to get to Jennifer’s. Thankfully all was fine.
Jennifer had her house all decorated nicely for Christmas.
Haley was just interested in her Uncle Wayne. She loves him so!
She had the table set all nice and pretty for dinner.
She took a sweet picture with her guy. What a lovely pair!
The above picture reminds me of a picture she took with the Wayneman two years ago. Here’s Haley and the Wayneman at Christmas 2007.
Cypress is always in the mix too!
Things haven’t changed much have they? Haley has gotten a bit older looking, but her love for her Uncle Wayne has stayed the same.
For dinner, Jennifer made Prime Rib. It was a thing of beauty!
Even I liked the Prime Rib - and that’s saying something since I am not much of meat eater.
We had a nice meal together...
After dinner, Haley showed me her present that she made and wrapped (herself) for Emily. How cute!
... and my mom took Emily over to the couch so Jennifer could eat. Em didn’t seem to have a problem with this set up!
You can’t be at Jennifer’s house without these two standing by.
But, then Haley decided to open it herself to show me what was inside.
After dinner, Jennifer busted out her Lemon Trifle. Yummy!
Sadly, it will be Bleaux-dog’s last Christmas. She is in renal failure and doesn’t have too much time left poor, sweet girl.
... chatting with my dad. By the way, my dad is quite smiley in this picture. I just have to tell him to channel Mr. Chin and that gets him laughing pretty good. Unfortunately the story of Mr. Chin will have to wait for another time.
Dave hung out in the family room...
After Haley and I finished listening to tunes in her room, I had to go spend some time with this little thing.
So, for us, Christmas 2009 was a wonderful time! I hope everyone else out there had as nice a time as we did!
Haley made me go upstairs to her room to listen to music on her new Hello Kitty boom box. Then she stuck a balloon under her dress so she could pretend to be with-child. Haley has a way of being a goof like this. See Kids Grow Up So Fast These Days to know what I mean.
